Meat Sauce


(Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives)


2 lbs ground chuck

1 Tbsp garlic, chopped

½ cup vegetable or olive oil

¼ cup onions, diced

1 29oz tomato puree

2 12oz tomato paste

1 15oz crushed tomatoes

½ cup parmesan

1 tsp garlic salt

1 tsp basil

1 tsp parsley

1 tsp salt

1 tsp pepper
1 Tbsp beef base (can use bouillon cube)

1 Tbsp chicken base (can use bouillon cube)


In large pot, cook ground chuck until browned, add in onions and garlic.  Cook until onions are soft.

Drain the fat out of the pot

Add all other ingredients, plus the beef & chicken base (dissolved in the water)

In a small bowl, add the beef & chicken base, 

Boil 1 cup of water and pour over cubes to dissolve

Add to sauce mixture

Let simmer

You may want to add an extra cup of water to the sauce if it looks too thick.
