Amish Cookies

(Lu Vandegrift)

350o 18-20 minutes


  • ½ cup canola oil
  • ½ cup butter
  • ½ cup 10X sugar
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ½ tsp cream of tartar
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • ½ tsp almond extract
  • 2 cups flour
  • ½ tsp baking soda



some sugar (placed in a bowl)




  1. In mixer, combine oil, butter, 10X sugar, sugar, egg, cream of tartar, vanilla & almond extract
  2. In large bowl mix flour, baking soda
  3. Combine dry ingredients into wet
  4. Refrigerate for one hour
  5. Roll into balls and roll in sugar
  6. Flatten gently
  7. Bake
