​KENTUCKY BUTTER CAKE

INGREDIENTS

1 cup butter

2 cups sugar

4 eggs

1 cup buttermilk

2 tsp vanilla

3 cups flour

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

½ tsp baking soda

10x sugar
Sauce:

1 cup sugar

¼ cup water

½ cup butter

1 Tbsp vanilla OR ½ tsp rum flavoring

DIRECTIONS

In mixer, cream butter and sugar. 

Add one egg at a time, mixing well between eggs

In measuring cup combine buttermilk and vanilla

In medium bowl combine flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda

Using low speed, add alternately dry ingredients and buttermilk to batter in mixer, ending with dry ingredients.

Beat well after each addition

Grease bottom only of tub pan

Place batter in pan

Bake
While cake is almost done baking, in small saucepan, combine sauce ingredients. 

Stir until butter melts

Run spatula around between cake and pan

Poke holes throughout cake

While cake is still warm, pour sauce over cake

Let cake cool before removing from pan

Once cooled, sprinkle 10x sugar over top to serve
